Is there a problem when the hatched chicks are knocking the unhatched eggs around? does this effect them hatching? it just feels wrong, those unruly little babes!!!

The first time I hatched I worried quite a bit about it - But usually it doesn't cause any troubles. Only one of my eggs ended up dying during a partial zip because it was rolled upside down. . .

I hatch in cartons now so the only thing the chicks do is step on a chick that's trying to zip. It only affects the chick for a short while, then the chick pops out.

hatching in cartons, i did not even think about that!!! i was taking them off the turner and then laying them on the side. i would think the carton would make clean up easier as well....

thanks for the welcome, i see you raise goats...me too!!! dairy goats for me, mostly lamanchas...

so you would set them as they were in the egg turner??
