I have a broody hen who has hatched her first ever chick today on day 26 of her sitting on it. I know that chicks develop slower in incubation if they are colder.
Does this mean the hen didn't keep the eggs warm enough underneath her? Or is it more likely that she was just leaving the nest for too long each day?
