Hatcheries grinding up live chicks? (warning: links to a graphic vid)

I'm not sure whether this is the right section for this, so mods pls feel free to move, but I was SO sad to read this article, (and actually couldn't bear to watch the accompanying AP video). I've always wondered what hatcheries do with their excess male chicks, but never imagined they could be getting rid of them in this manner. It says that Hy-Line Hatchery considers using a grinder "instantaneous euthanasia".

I don't know if this is going to fly....I know BYC doesn't allow PETA and other things here. At the end is really sounds like PETA is behind this. If there was a better way and a faster way to hatch, short, and deliver chicks then I am sure some hateries would have adopted this already. From what I understand those chicks are made into dogfood, catfood, ect. Although it is a very sad movie, anything with baby animals getting hurt is sad to me.

I know there have been a lot of threads closed lately on this topic.
