Hatchery location

Hey folks, Is there any advantage to getting chicks from a closer hatchery? I'm looking at all of them but there are a couple that are closer to me...actually there's one within driving distance of me but they don't always have the breeds I'm interested in. Thanks in advance!!!

Definitely, the chicks chances of making through the mail will be higher due to the shorter drive.

The less time the chicks spend in the mail the less stress they have and the likelier they are to get off to a good start.

Additionally, if the hatchery's breeding flocks are kept in the same climate you're located in then they'll come pre-selected to tolerate whatever weather extremes you're subject to.
