hatchery vs. breeders (heritage breeds)

Thank you for the advice. I am new to BYC and to being a chicken Mama for the most part. I will start a new thread. I am located in Western Nebraska. I will be looking for Cream Leg Bars, Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, Buff Orps, French Copper Marans, Welsummers.

Here is your state thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/nebraskans-speak-up-nebraska-rocks.172734/

Anyway, you now have lots to research and read. Good Luck.

I would go with a breeder and just in my opinion, do not go to a store like tractor supply or rural king.
At Tractor Supply, I got 20 chicks. 5 Light Brahmas, 5 Amber Sex Links and 10 Rhode Island Reds.
Now that my chicks all have their feathers, I see that I do not have Rhode Island Reds. They look to be Red Sex Links. They have Red but blotches of white all over as well.
They are still beautiful and I love them but it is not what I wanted. It could be a misplaced tag on bin but who knows.
That is just my opinion but I do hope you find the quality you are looking for.
Check out the breeders here on BYC!
