I have a brinsea Octagon 20 and I keep having issues with the last couple chicks that hatch. I have 2 chicks currently trying to hatch but show no improvement in the last 8+ hours and are officially 24 hours past everyone else.

What I think is happening is all the chick down is clogging the water reservoir because my humidity is lower now then right before they hatched. Should I help these 2 out? One looks shrink wrapped and is trying desperately to push open his 1/2 zipped egg. The other just has a large opening that the other chick keeps pecking at and eating the membrane. Yes, I did pull the other hatched chicks yesterday afternoon because it was SO cramped and these leftover eggs hadn’t pipped then. They were pipped last night when I went to bed at about 11pm. I woke up to find them this way and no change other than the bored chick eating away the membrane.

And my toddler unplugged the incubator for about 2 hours before I noticed last night. The temp was at 80 degrees but rose quickly. I have NOT opened the incubator since yesterday afternoon really quick to snag the hatched chicks. This is so frustrating!

So help these guys yes or no? It’s taking everything I have to not open the incubator and take out the hatched membrane eater, trouble maker.

I’ll upload pictures in a minute.

Chick #1 (it’s in a laundry bag to keep the egg separate)
