Hello!
I am completely new to hatching chicks, and looking for some answers. Thank you in advance to all who answer!
About 22 days ago, we got 12 fertilized Easter Egger eggs. They were given to us by a friend, so they never were shipped, or put on a delivery truck.
We did everything we read about: got an incubator, followed the instruction manual, consistently kept the humidity at 50% and the temp at 100 degrees Fahrenheit up until day 18. On day 18, we increased the ventilation, brought the humidity up to 70% and removed egg turner. When we candled the eggs on day 18, at least 6+ were alive and moving. Since they are Easter Egger, with many egg colors, we could not see inside of the 5-6 dark brown and dark blue eggs.
Now it is day 21-22 ( not sure exactly, unfortunately, but either 21 or 22 ), and no signs of a soon hatch. We have not seen any movement of eggs, or pips (is it possible they’re on the bottom of the eggs? ) We also have not heard any peeping or noise.
Yesterday, ( day 20 or 21 ), unfortunately, since it was very hot and humid out, almost 90°, the humidity was over 70, multiple times. We tried our best to get it down, slightly opening the incubator to increase ventilation, and now it is fine. Would that have affected it?
We have tried playing chick noises to encourage them, but no luck. I will keep you all updated!
