Friday will be 21 days for my chicks to hatch, when should I take the egg turner out, Wednesday or Thursday ?

I take mine out when the first chick pips. Usually two days prior to hatch date. Wednesday afternoon/evening, unless they've started piping earlier than that.

Let’s do a check first. What date and day of the week did you put the eggs in the incubator? You’d be surprised how many people count incorrectly. There used to be a free spreadsheet on this forum that had it wrong.

An egg does not have a day’s worth of development 2 seconds or 2 hours after it goes in the incubator. It takes 24 hours for the egg to have a day’s worth of development. So when you start counting days, you wait 24 hours and them say “1”. That’s not intuitive.

An easy way to check your counting for chicken eggs is that the day of the week you put the eggs in the incubator is the day of the week the 21 days is up. If you put the eggs in on Friday, January 13 the 21 days will be up Friday February 3. The 18 days for lockdown will be Tuesday January 31. So lockdown should have been yesterday.

If you put them in Saturday January 14, the 18 days are up today, February 1.

Don’t panic if you missed it, just lock them down now. You’ll probably be OK. You don’t have to be that precise.

My chicks are due today, still waiting tho.my temp spiked to 107or 108 one day 2 weeks ago, but when we took out the turner and candle them as we put them back in we so movement in a few but wasn't sure if the others we put in back in there so hoping for the best, out of all the ones we guessed were bad we threw out, but cracked open and only one had a chick in it
