Was not perfectly sure if today was the day as she started brooding when we were gone for a week-end, but there were little black beady eyes peeking out at me when I checked her this morning. They are still all in the nest, I have 7/9 so far.... can't hardly wait for her to move so I can get a final count. These are out of my new Bielfelder rooster.

So this is the question: If you have a barred rooster, are all the chicks barred? I had 3 hatch 3 weeks ago, and the feathers coming in are barred.

If you have an autosexing breed (not a sex linked) and you breed that to the riff raff, does the brown chipmunk stripe still mean a female.

So much fun, I love a broody hen and chicks! Such a great hoby.

Congrats! How exciting!

Yeah, my barred rooster often produces barred chickens or white chickens. When he breed with my Red Stars I never get red hens, nor when he breeds with my Rhode Island Reds (so I think, as I don't know who the eggs come from). I only got red chicks when I started using a New Hampshire rooster.

Best of luck!
