Couple of questions about my duck sitting on eggs
1. Is it 22 days like a chicken?? Most duck eggs take 28 days to hatch, but muscovies take 35 days. I have read that there are some breeds that take a little less than the 28.
2. Will she kick out any bad eggs?? Mine did not.
3. Is there anything I need to do or will she take care of everything?? The hen will do most of the work.

TIA!!

Thks for replying....
So with them not kicking them out how will I know to get rid of the bad ones or just leave them??
Reason I'm asking is because the other day there were flies all around the nest n kinda stunk....she is sitting on 8 eggs....

Flies around any duck environment are somewhat normal, but an extremely offensive smell from a nest isn't. Broody ducks don't normally do anything to sully the nest, so offensive smells might be coming from the eggs. I have heard that chickens will scoot bad eggs out of their nests, but I've never personally seen a duck do that.

I'd very carefully remove the eggs from the nest when she goes off for her break and candle the eggs. If an egg smells bad, put it in a bag and seal it, then put it in the trash. If any egg has an offensive smell, it's not going to produce a duckling, and it's not an odor you want to experience if it breaks or cracks.

So if I touch them she won't abandon them will she??
