hi everyone,
i have just given my broody buff orpington 11 eggs to hatch,
The eggs are all very small compared to others because they are silkies and pekin eggs.
she is sitting on them all but im not sure if they are all in the correct place, i know directly under the belly is where the warmth is, but i doubt they are all there, some might be around the wing or further back.
my question is in your opinion is 11 too much, i read elsewhere that a dozen biggish eggs are ok for an australorp but they are very big, the buff orp is a fairly big hen.
and another question i have is how can i introduce more chicks to the mother? i have 7 eggs in an incubator and i want the mother to think she hatched them, im thinking maybe put them under her when they externally pip, not when they have already been born as i need the chick to know she is the mother.
thanks,
sean
ps. i have hatched many chicks under broody hens but not this much
