It's my first time hatching eggs. I got an incubator for Christmas and I was so excited I just couldn't wait so my first batch went in at 9:00 PM.

Temps 99.5 F RM 45%

December 27th 9:00 PM Day 0 Correct?
December 28th 9:00 PM Day 1 Correct?

One two..skip a few....

January 14 9:00 PM Lockdown. Temp 99.5F 65% RH
January 17 - TODAY 9:00 PM Hatch Day??

I checked them this morning and couldn't hear any chirping or see any pipping. I don't really know what to expect either. It really won't be a full 21 days until 9:00 tonight...so I'm hoping that when I get off work..in about 2 hours I might see a change.

Should the eggs be moving around at all?
Should they be pipping?
Should I be hearing chirps?

I have a Brinsea 20 Advance Incubator and settings have been pretty much perfect for the entire hatch. I candled on day 17 and everyone looked to be developing nicely. Even saw a cute little foot against the shell!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

HI, Sounds like you are doing great................
21 days is the target....................sometimes come a little later....................mine were day 23 this time.
Do not move them at this point. They are getting in position to hatch and moving them can mess up their work...................
Do not open the bator, do not touch the eggs.........

You may hear chirping when they break into the air cell...............some do, some don't...............
What my theory about 21 days is...the chickens did not read the book.....

Sometimes it will take many hours from their first pip to hatch...........

Feel free to join us in January/ February hatch along..........
Lots of help in there.................good Luck

Thank you so much for your response. I worried a lot less all night thanks to your encouraging words!

I still woke up about 1:30 dreaming of hatching chicks and guess what?! 3 eggs have pipped and they are chirping. I'm so excited! Thank you again for the response!
