1st time hatching ducks blue Swedish maybe some mallard mix in at day 25 stopped turner all eggs were viable with chicks moving but then only 8 out of 15 hatched? The others never even pipped used a little giant incubator and mom also did her first hatch with the same problem. Where did we go wrong

We need more info. Temp? Humidity days 1-18 and at lockdown? Model number on your LG? Were your instruments calibrated before you started?

It's a little giant ang egg turner that I got at tsc
Humidity reading on incubator stayed aroubd 45 that's was all wells filled and a wet sponge inside then at lock down day 25 for ducks put cups of water in and got it to about 55
Ducks were alive at lockdown but never even pipped

9300 still air with digital controls.

10300 fan circulated air.

I have both models.

To get temps for eggs where they need to be had to set each at 103.

Because the 99.5 factory setting was off.

The humidity indicator stayed at 45 in one of them whether it was dry or had water. So in my 2 the humidity indicator was useless.

I don't hatch ducks I know they need a little more moisture than other eggs.

But the way you described it sounds like they had too much humidity and drowned.

The one I have with the fan 10300 model has a lot of temp variance. Especially in the corners. By the element 102.1,and 99.6. In the far corners 96.1 and 94.6.

What seemed to give me better hatch results was dry incubation. Keep humidity at 25 to 30 percent. The raise to 65 to 70 percent for lockdown. That is with chicken and turkey eggs.

With some of the issues I've been seeing with my models if you got 50 percent to hatch you did quite well.

That's not a bad percentage for first time hatching. Did you candle? Did any of the deaths have internal pips?

Get a secondary humidity gauge. Calibrate with salt test.

I had one they sell at Walmart for a home. Tells temp and humidity highs and lows for 24 hours. Is digital.

Where they in position to internally pip?? Could be your humidity was too high and they were too large to turn. Always use a second humidity gauge. You don't have to have water in the incubator to have humidity. I'm running at 45 -50 with no water whatsoever in the incubator. My eggs didn't lose enough weight the first week so that humidity is too high WITHOUT water in it.
