I have coturnix quail in my LG "forced air" incubator. I'm getting closer to the setting date. Remind me...do I leave the red plugs in or out after the lockdown for hatching?

What humidity range do I need to be in? What if after I put my planned sponges/towel in there if the humidity is too high,?? I assume I can still take it out as long as there are none hatching yet? How high is too high?

And can I put a towel in bottom for them to spill out onto or is the rubber gripper mat better?

Thanks in advance!

When I hatch bobwhite quail and my incubator has a fan, I do not open any plugs. I get the humidity to around 65-70% just using the troughs in the bator..no extra sponges or towels. The humidity will rise as they hatch, but I just leave it and it goes up and down as chicks dry and others hatch. I lay the eggs right on the wire and they hatch fine.
