Hi BYC members. I have a silkie that has been sitting on 10 eggs for 23 days. One chick has hatched so far but it was a day late,(so on the 22 day.) the other eggs are to dark to candle but I'm sure at least one must be fertile. Should I water candle them? Or what should I do. I don't plan on giving up!! Please help soon, tomorrow seems like th:/e last hopefully day:/

Hi!! Chicks aren't always on an exact date. Wait about a week after the due date and if they still haven't hatched, then maybe put a torch up to them and see if you can see a baby. That's what I do

Hop I helped!! :jumpy

Really, they can hatch a whole week late? This is my first broody. I figured because one hatched that more would start hatching but nothing yet;(

Ok, one had a little crack in it for 2 hours or so and I thought it might have died so I took the tiny peace of shell off to see that it's beekeeping stuck out of the air bubble. Long story short this is 3 days late, u think that the mom is moving them too much so it's making it too hard for them to hatch? Should I butt them in the incubator?

Maybe wait a few days more, beacause when we're hatching chicks, there always hatching most days for nearly a week. It all depends. But if it makes you feel better then put them in the incubator. (I would probably end up putting them in there if there's problems)
