i have serama eggs on day 16 today. i was told they were a size. i believe that, but one is bigger than the others. then it hit me! the bigger ones might take longer to hatch. so far i am only turning the bigger one(not a double yolk). so what should i do???? i would be happy to get one to two hens from this.

The birds that layed the eggs may have been A sized but i don't think seramas breed true in size or color. If the bigger egg is a serama egg it will take the same time to hatch. Good luck on your hatch I love the serama breed I personally have 2 of them they have a great personality.

I dont suggest that then! sorry!!!

Yes, they say that Serama can hatch early, but out of the 3 sets that I have hatched they all pipped on Day 20 and hatched on Day 21. I treated them just like any other chicken egg and stopped turning on Day 18.

I would still lockdown on day 18. My daughter wanted a Serama so badly that I started reading until my eyes were crossed on the best way to hatch out Seramas. I knew they were a "hard to hatch" breed and finally decided that I would stick with the day 18 lockdown. I just prepared myself for early hatching. What I did change was the way I kept my humidity. At lockdown I upped the humidity to 63% and then when I saw the first pip I upped it to 65-68% and kept it there. Yes the humidity did go up into the low 70's when the chicks started hatching but the high 60's was all they needed on my end to come out with no stickiness or shrink wrapping. Remember though that is here in Florida.

What I forgot to add is that a few of my eggs look like the air cell is at the little end of the egg!! but those are the eggs that seem more round! is this normal, because I never seen it with the norm chicken eggs!
