Hatching Shipped Eggs

Hi all! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a hatch. This summer I’ve got 5 white layer duck eggs in the incubator (started with 12, but lost a few at different stages). They’re shipped eggs and even though I let them sit for 24 hours before putting them in, they’ve got some super wonky air sacs. I traced them tonight (day 19). My question is- is there anything I can do this late in the game to get them a little less saddle like? Also- when I go into lockdown how to I know which way to set them? Thanks for your help with this! I’m rusty! LOL

I incubate in a rack large end up...and can say I never had saddled air cell with many shipped egg hatches. Probably to late to try this for your current hatch though. I lay them on the side out of rack for lockdown does not matter one side or other the chick will position itself during the 3 days prior to hatch

Thank you! Does it matter if the saddle part is on the bottom or side? Or just turn them one last time and leave them?

no the air cell will move to the top of egg as embryo positions itself to hatch...so anyway you position them they will be fine....that of course assuming they are still good when you get to lockdown. The first ones that hatch will most likely move the late hatching eggs around as they dry out and get there legs under them.....still does not matter if they are healthy they will hatch. Good luck!
