We have eggs being shipped to us this week to put in the incubator. We are new to this. I have read different ways to handle the eggs when you get them. Is it best to stand them up or lay them on there side when we get them? Also how long do we wait to put them in the incubator. We have the incubator up and running. Thanks for any help.

We usually put them in an egg tray, pointy side down and let them sit for 3 to 6 hours. We have occasionally had a bad batch shipped in (whether in transit or otherwise I don't know), but we have had up to 85% success rate on shipped eggs doing it this way.

We do turn them the first 18 days just like our own eggs, though if you have a setting on your incubator to turn them less the first few days, that might not be a bad idea.
