Has anyone ever hatched store bought eggs or eggs you have already put in the frig? I have some Araucana eggs that Im about to put in the bator and thought I would add a few of my BCM eggs as well. The only thing is that I hadnt thought this through(the BCM eggs) and have been putting them in the frig. Except for yesterday and today. I got some real nice dark ones yesterday, but the ones today arent that dark. So I thought about getting some of the ones that have already been in the frig. Will those work? Should I let them come to room temp. and then put them in the bator? What are your thoughts?

People have hatched the eggs from stores like Trader Joe's, and I've hatched fertile egg's from my aunts fridge. They had only been in the fridge for about 24 hrs.

Store bought eggs will not hatch since those hens have no contact with a rooster. However, your eggs in the frigde still do have a chance to hatch. Your hatch rate will be greatly reduced by having stored them in the fridge but several people on the forum have said that they have indeed had some refrigerated eggs hatch. I would let them come to room temperature before putting them in the bator. Good luck:)

I have hatched eggs that have been in my fridge for 2 weeks. I know some were not fertile to start with so I can't tell you that I had a reduced hatch rate. I lost most of my flock to a weasel and these were the eggs that I had, then I found I had more hidden in the lower rack of my egg container (so that was 2 weeks from the attack) I now have 7 beautiful chicks so it can be done. as far as the store bought eggs, those hens may never have even seen a rooster so they may not be fertile anyway.
as far as hatching mine, I let them come to room temp for 8-12 hours then added them to the incubator.

I have some fertilized refrigerator eggs in the bator right now, hoping they will develop. Only on day 3.

My step-dad hatched ten out of twelve from a dozen that I gave him out of my refrigerator. They'd been washed and in the fridge for several days. They were just regular sale eggs from my hens, fertile of course. Drove them home a hundred miles and hatched them out in an old styrofoam incubator.

Many people refrigerate their hatching eggs.

There was a thread on here a few months ago about people hatching eggs they bought from Wal-Mart. Apparently, they have a brand that comes from free-range farms where the hens have access to the occasional rooster. There were quite a few posters who reported positive results.

Just make sure they say "fertile eggs' and that they are the freshest you can find as in less than a week old if possible.

I've never seen a store in Florida selling fertile eggs.
