Hi! So far we have five out of 12 chicks that have hatched! One hatched early yesterday at around four. My question is, can I just take that chick out at 24 hours and leave the rest in so they’re in the incubator for 24 hours or can I leave them in longer and if so how long can I leave them in the incubator? It’s going to be really hard to tell them all apart! Some hatched early this morning when I wasn’t here. Others hatched while we were at school.

Do I just feed newborns regular chick feed?
Hatched chicks should start out with chick feed. Although most people don't do it, and some really have harsh opinions of it: I grind my chick feed into a powder with a coffee grinder.
The chicks really seem to love it that way and they are able to eat it better.

Can I transport the chicks in a shoe box with a towel from one brooder to another if it only takes ten minutes or do I need to worry about them getting cold? I left them at school but am worried about them now.
:(
