Hi I finally have the chance to get the breed of chicken that got me into raising chickens in the first place. But, the hen is 2 years old, still laying eggs just not as frequently. What are the chances of her Laying a viable egg for hatching? There is a rooster in with the flock now. Thanks a lot for any and all advice!

I have had two year old hens sit on nests and hatch out chickens. Three year old hens too. They were a hearty barn yard mix, but I hope it helps. If she was in with a rooster of the same breed at the place you got her from, then hatch the first eggs she lays. They may be purebred.
