Super excited!!! As i was buying chicken feed 2 days ago at my local feed store I saw a sign that said they will incubate your fertile eggs for only a dollar each!only catch is you still pay the dollar whether or not the egg hatches, which in my eyes is still a steal. So tomorrow, 6/19/14 I'll be taking about 10-13 eggs from my own flock which consists of: rhode island red hen, barred rock hen, leghorn hen, black langshan/iowa blue hens, buff orpington hen, and a black langshan/iowa blue rooster. I'll post updates as i learn more abput the process and if ill be updated along the way. I just bought 2 silver laced wyandotte chicks from the same store, theyre about a week old and just adorable!cant wait for the new arrivals!

So i took 16 eggs in total for the feed store to incubate for me.I dont get very much information or viewing privileges during the incubation which sucks but was kinda expected. They said they candle them on the 18th day and then on the 22nd day theyll call me to let me know how many survived. Excited to have my first batch of hatchlings from my very own flock! Ill update again when they hatch :)

My dad's barber has done that kind of deal for years in his barber shop. You can go in and see your eggs in his glass door GFQ.
I think he charges a dollar an egg.

Thats amazing!i would have never guessed a barbershop would offer incubation services but i love it! Where are you guys located? Im over here in richmond, ca (about 15 miles east of san francisco) and there arent too many local resources when it comes to farmlife because im in such an urban area but im learning about new services and awesome feed stores all the time.

Well, I haven't seen it, but my dad tells me about it quite a bit. I think he likes watching the eggs while getting his hair cut.
He told me the guy is Amish, but can use modern things while working. Lol, the barber shop is his excuse to have the incubator, because none of his barber supplies are modern other than the lights, heat, and air conditioning.

11 of my 18 eggs I had incubated hatched!!theyre sooooo cute!here's a picture of them at 2 days old, theyre 4 days old today :) im a proud chicken mama!
