Hatching?

It is day 20 and I was wondering how you can tell if they are going to start to hatch? On the 14th day the power went out and was out for 5 hours, could that affect the hatch? I have an old incubator that you have to open and fill the water tray from the inside, and have to fill it quite often so have to open it often.

Typically the egg might rock. But they still have at least another day to go if they're only on day 20

Yes, I could see a black circle which I thought was the eye, the only movement I have seen is an egg turned over.

21 days is just a guide and hatching is not an exact science. As said above some rocking maybe seen or chirping once they internally pip into the air cell. But unless you are constantly watching or listening you may miss this. Good luck with hatch and now it’s time to be patient

Yes, I could see a black circle which I thought was the eye, the only movement I have seen is an egg turned over.

If you did see an eye when you candled you also should have been able to see blood veins and a little blob in the center which is the chick. If not the black you saw could have been an egg that didn't develop.
