A new one for the record books. my hens eggs hatched and they all moved out of the coop to run in the yard so I checked her nest box for eggs that didn't hatch when I find this mess under the straw that looks like a white hotdog with egg shell pieces all over it. To my horror I find its a Duckling. Sadly, I find its been trampled by the hen leaving the nest box. I pulled away the membrane to see what color it would have been and it moved. I ran in the house and put it in the incubator. I have 10 eggs in with with 6 days to go and 5 hours later here it is never give up on ducklings they are tough little birds.

Wow, so lucky you checked!! What a cutie! :love

I've had that happen with a cold and smashed chicken egg once when the hen just took off with the living ones. I thought it must've died is why she left it, but it chirped. Same thing, put in the incubator and a couple of days later one happy little chick! She took it.

That is so cool just Little help when they are fragile turns them into dinosaur birds. We joke all the time that our chickens are mini Trex's.
