Okay I think this was planned by hens! 
. Two of my hens laid at the crack of dawn this a.m.. You guessed it the eggs were cracked one exploded( not literally) but broke the pointy tip off, and the other one split down the side 
. I think they know that I feed those back to them.
I have since gotten 4 more and they're fine. Little buggers, it has to be this couldn't be that I couldn't talk myself into going out in 9 degree weather 1st thing this am. Oh well
they got good protein and I got my coffee by the fireplace? Tee hee hee
