Have a broody BO need fertile eggs

After they have been broody for a bit get day old chicks and trade whatever you have them setting on. My hatch rate was poor for some reason, and shipped eggs are likely to be costly and have a lower hatch rate. Just buy some day olds, and slip them under your broody in exchange for the eggs. I have 8 barred rocks running around with there mom that were planted at 2 days old.

Check out E-Bay. I just bought a dozen Blue splashed Orp eggs off there. Check out the reviews of the people selling them. From what I have read, it works out well for the most part.

I just started keeping chickens last February. I live in Redwood City and have a BO that I think was born broody. She is trying to sit daily on the eggs and will have one just so she has an egg to sit on. I called Half Moon Bay Feed and Fuel and they have fertile eggs for sale. I am going over there this weekend so she will finally have some fruition for all her efforts. My question is however, Will she do the raising too? Will I need to be hands on? Also, can they all be together with the one other hen I have?

Make sure she is serious about setting.....3 days and nights on the nest usually means serious...then give her some fertile eggs to set.

Half Moon Bay Feed and Fuel was the way to go! They have fertile eggs, newly hatched chicks and pullets. I ended up getting my broody hen 2 chicks a week ago and she has taken to motherhood beautifully! She stays by their sides at all times and puffs up at any intrusion. My other hen is pecking at the new chicks whenever she has a chance so I keep her separated as much as possible.
