Hi everyone i have a feeling my silkie roosters aren't purebred like my new silkies. Just the feel of there feathers is nothing like my new silkies. My silkie roosters do have 5 toes i was told if crossed they wouldn't have 5 toes is this true? Could they have been crossed so much then crossed back to a silkie to get the 5 toes back? Look at the pictures bellow one of my new silkies and 1 of my roosters.

my white hen in the first picture is 14 weeks old,the rooster in the second picture is 15 weeks old.

He's probably purebred, just not as good a quality. Crossed birds can have 5 toes. Actually your roo looks better than a lot of "pure" silkies I have seen. This is why people are always asking "show quality or hatchery quality" . If you just breed everything you get, their appearance often goes down hill. You must carefully select your breeders for the best characteristics according to the "standard of perfection" as possible to maintain "show quality" birds.
