I love my mottled cochins as-is, but since I am also a little artistic and kooky, I am thinking of perhaps coloring them with food coloring next spring so I can have a flock of purple, pink, green, blue etc. spotted chickens. I do not plan on using any harsh chemicals or anything to cause them harm. I give them baths once in a while anyway, so why not add a little color then? Have any of you done this before with your chickens, and if so could you share your method of coloring them and photos? I imagine there have to be at least a few pink or purple silkies out there, let's see them!
