Well at least I know I'm not in my eggless adventure. I don't know why I was silly enough to think I could bring them home and start getting eggs on day one.

Oh well we're picking up some RIR chickys in the morning so at least we'll have a back up plan.

No, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. Mind you, chickens who are stressed from a new move and new home won't lay for a while. Also if you buy new chickens and bring them home they may lay for a while and then stop. My blue hens did that. I have 1 of 3 who is still laying. The other two did for the first two days and then stopped. I'm waiting on them to pick it back up.

My Ameraucanas were tailless when I brought them home and now that I've taken out the mean dark hen and left the much more docile hens with one roo and put the mean hen with another roo, they've started laying. I've had them for several weeks though and only this week have I gotten eggs from them.

I have two that I bought who are laying age and it is 4 weeks now and no eggs. ( oh well. Just teaching me patience!

One must remember that chickens are animals not machines, you can't turn them on, walk away and expect them to perform, they are affected by many environmental stresses, change in food, water, housing, different care taker, new animals around them, all these things or just one can through them off. Relax and enjoy them, they will lay when ready.

The chicken with the big top crest sounds like a Polish. The other two would be a barred Plymouth Rock (the feathers have black and white barring). The other would be a cochin (coe- chin).
