Well, we did it. We just went out and purchased 4 baby "Ameraucana" chickens. I don't know how the neighbors are going to feel about this, but I guess we will just have to wait and see. I don't know a thing a raising chickens, but since we have manage to keep them alive for 2 days I feel like we have accomplished something anyway. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

! Pleased you joined us! Yes, you have lost your mind - but in a totally great way! You will love your chickens. And the breed you've selected, at least the ones I've owned, are nice, friendly, and quiet. With proper research and a little bit of work done ahead of time, chickens aren't much work. Below are a couple links that might help you out. Good luck and have fun!

Thank you so much. I really enjoy hearing the soft chirps coming from the playroom right now. My brother-in-law, who also raises chickens, say that they stink. How much stink are we talking here? Is it something a little air freshener can get rid of, or are we talking raise the windows and fumigate? I don't smell anything right now, we (and I mean my son, it is his scout project afterall) clean the tote everyday. Or does he mean they stink when they get older before they can go outside? Thanks again.
