This morning, after I drop off my little girl to preschool, I stopped, like I do most mornings, at McDonalds to get my usual breakfast sandwich and a coffee. When I came to pay for it, I was told it has been taking care of by the lady in front of me. “Why?” ,“Who is she?”, “Do I know her?” I looked in the mirror to see if I recognize her face, but no, she was a stranger. She waived her hand, smiled, and left. It was only few dollars, but it was a stranger’s few dollars. It made me smile.

In all this political unrest

(and I get a full dose of debates every evening since both my husband and I are very lively about politic), in this economy uncertainty

, with all this anger and fear around us

, a perfect stranger decided to start my morning with a smile

.
And what makes this thing even more odd is that this is the third time it happen to me in the past month. Twice at McDonalds and once at Wendy’s. I live in a small town with lots of good people around here, and many churches.
It felt very good, and made me ask my self when was the last time I did a good deed? When was the last time I did something for someone without expecting anything in return.

The last thing I remember was cleaning out my closet and taking my old clothes at Goodwill. I have been so buried in my every day life, that I forgot how it is to be the lady who made a stranger smile. Her gesture was more than buying my breakfast. When I got home, and I got out of the car, I could smell the spring in the air, I could hear the birds singing, I felt refreshed, (and no! they didn’t put anything in my coffee

).
You know what I mean? Often times we are so busy with our every day life, and have to many things going through our minds, that we miss all this beautiful little things around us, and we forget how rewarding it is to just do something good.
I really needed this morning, and it came in a perfect time. I will pay it back, that’s for sure. I’ll find the right time and the right person, there is always the right time and the right person if we have the will.

God bless you all, my BYC friends

I work with a guy that does this when he is feeling down. When he is drive up of fast food place, he will pay for the one behind him.

Yes I have. I have a co-worker that has been out the last 2 months due to having a grand mal seizure while driving. She blacked out and crashed into a telephone pole knocking the pole down a bit. She woke up when the ambulance and State Police tried to awaken her. Well her SUV was totalled but she suffered no injuries. She was in the hospital for a few days for observation. Her family lives about 4 hours away. She had a rental car for a few weeks but that was all that her insurance company would pay for. She has no transportation. I knew that she didnt have any transportation, so I volunteered to take her to run her errands. She needed her seizure meds, goceries, cat food, etc. I drove her around town to help her out. She said that she had called a cab the week before and she had a terrible experience. Can you imagine loading bags of groceries in a dirty, filthy stinky cab? She has depleted her savings on paying rent, bills, etc. and pretty much living on her AFLAC disability checks.

I will be picking her up weekly or bi-weekly so that she can pick up her meds, groceries, pay bills etc until she gets transportation. I can't imagine not having a car to take care of simple every day things. She is the type that she feels that she is bothering people if she asks for help. She will not call anyone for help. So, I pretty much told her and demanded that I would pick her up at a certain time and she better have her butt waiting on me. She agreed. She tried to offer me money but I told her that she insulted me by offering me money. We just laughed.

I told her that her money was no good here and that I couldn't accept it. I always try to help out whoever I can when I can because you never know when you will need help.

Not real recent but I did give my Best Friend $1500.00 to pay her co-pays so she could have a much needed surgery. Not a loan, gift.

Bought $200. worth of groceries for my Daughters Best Friend at Christmas time. My mother in law added another $100. and told me to get cleaning supplies and laundry stuff.

Have spent about $500. on animals dumped out on our road. This past year alone.

Lord, I am not bragging.

I had a lady do that for me once at Tim Hortons. It does make you feel good eh? I remeber, I was in a bad mood, busy morning, you know the usual.. It made me smile for a week, smiling now..

I clean houses and one of my fav. clients that I've been cleaning for close to 10 years, weekly. So you know, I've got to know them, their really great people.. The Dad just got dignosed with cancer.. He will have Chemo till July

I offered to vac some of the basement and change the kitty litter down there when I'm there. She's got two kids, a husband in chemo, and a full time job as a teacher.. I knew this was something her husband always does.. Takes me 5 min. max. I already got the vac. out.. Why not right! She was pretty happy.. Today when I was there, I noticed her bed sheets were in the drier.. This is strange for their house for a friday, Have never seen her wash her bed sheets, on a cleaning day. Must've been some kind've accident, kids or maybe a spilled drink.. Who knows, I put them on her bad, and made bed up.. After a long day, I know she will smile at least once today when she gets home and doesn't have this too do!

I pay the auto toll for the car behind me, if I have the cash for it. Somebody did that for me once, and it was so nice, I just do it as a regular thing, now.

I've handed over change or a couple bucks at grocery stores when someone is short the total for their purchases ahead of me. It happens far more often than it used to.... Sad.

There are a few nice things I've done, here and there, because it makes ME feel good. I'm banking on earning Karma points, to offset my profligate and self-centered youth.
