This morning, after I drop off my little girl to preschool, I stopped, like I do most mornings, at McDonalds to get my usual breakfast sandwich and a coffee. When I came to pay for it, I was told it has been taking care of by the lady in front of me. Why? ,Who is she?, Do I know her? I looked in the mirror to see if I recognize her face, but no, she was a stranger. She waived her hand, smiled, and left. It was only few dollars, but it was a strangers few dollars. It made me smile.
In all this political unrest
(and I get a full dose of debates every evening since both my husband and I are very lively about politic), in this economy uncertainty
, with all this anger and fear around us
, a perfect stranger decided to start my morning with a smile
.
And what makes this thing even more odd is that this is the third time it happen to me in the past month. Twice at McDonalds and once at Wendys. I live in a small town with lots of good people around here, and many churches.
It felt very good, and made me ask my self when was the last time I did a good deed? When was the last time I did something for someone without expecting anything in return.
The last thing I remember was cleaning out my closet and taking my old clothes at Goodwill. I have been so buried in my every day life, that I forgot how it is to be the lady who made a stranger smile. Her gesture was more than buying my breakfast. When I got home, and I got out of the car, I could smell the spring in the air, I could hear the birds singing, I felt refreshed, (and no! they didnt put anything in my coffee
).
You know what I mean? Often times we are so busy with our every day life, and have to many things going through our minds, that we miss all this beautiful little things around us, and we forget how rewarding it is to just do something good.
I really needed this morning, and it came in a perfect time. I will pay it back, thats for sure. Ill find the right time and the right person, there is always the right time and the right person if we have the will.
God bless you all, my BYC friends
edited to say....there is love in the air...
