Good morning Darlene! I browsed through the cookbook while hubby was watching TV. It is so great! I love that it has some of the BYC faves, like Gump Bread and Ten egg pound cake. Again, Thank you!
I am not too bad at keeping surprises a surprise. However my hubby gets so excited that you know he is up to something! He starts to ask to open his birthday presents as soon as they show up in the mail. Usually if I am on top of my game I have them a month ahead of time. Last year I has them shipped to his Moms house so it wouldn't drive him crazy that they were here, somewhere!
5 years ago my sisters and I planned a surprise 40th Anniversary party for our parents.......boy howdy was our mother HISSED off, she does NOT like surprises. We knew this going into it but we all took the chance. She enjoyed the day and was over her hissy fit pretty quickly once she started mingling, but she did manage to take each one of us girls aside and quietly tell us .." this WON'T happen again on our 50th!"
Nope, she's right, it won't happen on their 50th....it's happening on their 49th.....we sisters decided we going to live on the edge and we recruited dads help too. If mom ever finds out dad is helping......."Oofda!"
A few years ago, we planned a surprise visit to my grandma in Ireland. We got her friend to take her to the airport and say we are waiting for her daughter. My grandma's friend asked my grandma to look on the board for the arrival. And when they were waiting for her arrival, my grandma's friend said 'Remeber she has pink hair'
Then suddenly I appeared and you should have seen my grandma's face

That is such a cool idea! We sort of did this for my parents 25th. We planned it a couple of weeks early, then casually invited them to our home for a BBQ. When they pulled up my Dad mumbled to my Mom. Well where are we supposed to park? I wonder who is having a party! Then he saw all the pink balloons on our fence! They were surprised but my Mom spent 20 minutes in my bathroom trying to "fix" herself and she asked to raid my closet! Gee and I wonder how I became so vain?!
I hate surprise parties... OK little gifts are ok... but to think you are going to someones house for a few drinks or to go to a restaurant for a quiet meal and to have the whole place erupt .. the thought of it makes me
I have control issues.. and when something like that happens i dont like it ... my DH knows how I feel and would never be part of it... i hide weeks before my birthday i stop answering the phone and wont make plans with anyone. I dont like to be the center of attention either
