Have you made your own water heater?

I am thinking ahead. It's about 100 degrees outside right now...so not a problem today! Do any of you have clever, inexpensive ways to keep your chickens water from freezing in the winter? I was thinking about a candle warmer underneath the galvanized waterer?

I use a cheap heated dog bowl in the winter. I picked up one this time of year on clearance at Walmart for about $5.

It holds about a 1 1/2 gal of water, which is at least a day's worth in the cooler months.

No I havent, but it would REALLY come in handy during the winter. I have to go out 2-3 times a day to give everybody water, especially the waterfowl.

The dog dish method works fine.
Just build a wire cone around it to let heads in and keep bodies out.
