having chicks

when should i have chicks? it can get in the negatives right here where im at in kentucky. Is it too cold for chicks?

It is best to order chicks when the temps are no longer freezing in your area so they ship without deaths. Babies need to be brooded under a heat lamp indoors for 6 weeks.

X2. I like raising late spring or early fall babies. That way the weather is usually nice enough that once they are 2 or 3 weeks old they can go outside for a bit each day and it also makes moving to the coop that much easier then if the weather is very cold.
