Well, our brooder is now getting kinda cramped for our 4 fast growing chicks that are a couple weeks old. My DH is building an outside playpen for them until the coop and the run are completed. However, the temp and wind is such that it's too cold out right now anyways, so I thought that I would bring a little of the outdoors in.
I setup an old kiddie pool and put in shavings, food, water and a "palm tree" (aka dandelion) and one little chick thought it had died and gone to heaven. Such trills of contenment as it rolled around in the dirt. The other three just stood around it as if thinking "That chick's crazy!". This won't do for long, as they can fly, so it's just going to be an excercise yard for them until they get kicked out by the new hatchlings due the 10th.
Pretty cute!
