I want to rehome 5 of my boy ducks, but I’ve had no luck finding anyone who wants any ducks. My mom has asked around and no one wants any. I have a good mind to try out craigslist, but I’m a little scared. I don’t really feel comfortable with trying to find them new homes on here, but any other tips would help. The boys are almost 2 years old.
They’re in breeding mode and there’s just too many boys and I need to rehome them.
My neighbors have a single duck that roams around in their horse pasture and I feel bad for it and I think it’d be good if it had other ducks with it, but I don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl bc I’ve never seen it or been around it up close.
My fear is that someone will kill them and/or turn them into food and I didn’t raise them to be food.

Have you posted on your state forum?

It’s the risk you take when you post on CL. I usually ask the buyer what their plans are in taking my drakes but since I had Muscovy when I placed the drakes, I know they are raised for meat and I tell buyers if they plan to process my birds to be kind to them up until the time. We all want our birds to go to homes where they will live full lives but when you have too many drakes and it’s becoming a problem then it’s time to acknowledge that most supplemental drakes are eaten. I’d rather have a buyer be honest with me instead of lying or worse turning around and flipping them. That pisses me off to no avail and I black list any further sales to that person ever.
