ok... my cousin gave my son a bunch of barnyard mix chicken eggs to hatch out. well i have 2 buckets full and only have 1 lg incubator. i am going to donate some to a local school for the first grade to hatch out. i have somehow misplaced the 2 plastic windows on the top of the bator so i have used 1 piece of glass shelf to cover the area. problem is that i cannot get the humidity to rise above 30 to set my eggs. any sugestions?

I heard someone once say that if you take a lady's maxi pad and soak it with water and place it in the bator it works like a charm!

Be careful not to get the humidity too high..anywhere between 40-50% is perfect especially in the beginning! Hope this helps! Keri

okay I eel like a big dummy. I figured out the problem. I have set up my bator in a new location in the house and had to use a different stand. I sat the bator flat on this stand and all of the vent holes on the bottom were closed off. I raised it up and temp and humidity was reset. now it is up to 57. it will come down just a little after all of the water I put in there evaporates. i might get to set eggs tomorrow!!! thanks for everyones help!!!
