I have a few chicks and two ducklings, I changed there bedding from hay to sand because the chicks were having a rough time with it but now one of my ducklings foot is pretty messed up. And of course it's the one I spent nearly 3 hours bringing back to life and named "lucky". So...this could become very unlucky of I don't get some help and then that would just make it awkward for the both of us!

We soaked it in Epsom salt water and put a water proof bandaid on it but I'm pretty worried beings it looks pretty mangled. Help me help lucky stay lucky?

Is it just that he has sand stuck to the bottom of his foot? If you soak his foot for a bit in warm water, I think the sand will come off easily. If you go to "Other Backyard Poultry, forum above, you will find threads for duck folks, the people there would be better able to advise you. I don't know anything about ducks. Hope he will be good as new. Welcome to the flock.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear about your duckling. His foot does look like it needs some attention so I would definatly post in the duck section as soon as possible so the experts there can help you get him sorted https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks

Hope he is back to full health soon :fl
