So we got our batch of chickens back in march and they are now starting to lay.
We have a chicken coop out back that also doubles as our goat barn! Its a two story barn and the goats have a set of stairs to get to their second level living quarters.
The problem im having is getting the chickens to want to roost in the coop! They just spread out along a fence line behind the house and then its hard to find eggs the next day.
Ive been trapping them and putting them in the coop and then letting them out in the morning but after 4 days they just wait till they are out and about to start laying eggs and it has become annoying never knowing where the eggs are.
I built some nesting boxes that are in the coop but it appears as though they are not using them!
Any help here is appreciated

You may need to lock them in the coop for a few days to get them homed to the coop. Is there any way you can lock them into one section, while allowing the goats to use the rest of it? Of course if it's too hot to safely lock them in, then, you will need an other plan.

I have the same problem, they are not laying in the nesting boxes, it's to hot to lock them in there
