So recently our chickens got attacked by what we guess was a hawk but we are not really sure. Almost all of our birds died but
We managed to save one of them, but she is badly injured. She has some scratches on her back and I was just wondering what I should do to get it to heal. I have been cleaning it out with water to prevent dirt getting into the wound, but I don’t really know what else to do. Any advice would help.

If you have saline solution or Hibiclens, (you can buy at Wal-Mart), clean it with that to get the dirt out and put some triple antibiotic ointment (without pain relief) on it, slather it on. I think it's important to keep it moist to promote healing. Do not cover or wrap it. If she is in shock, and probably is, give her probiotics. If she won't drink, or you don't have probiotics, you can make a solution with 1 cup warm, not too warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 scant pinch of salt - mix it up and drop it on her beak via (non needled) syringe or put a drop or two on her tongue or put her beak to a dish to see if she'll drink. You can offer scrambled egg or very wet mash (wet feed) to see if she'll eat that. Keep her warm and dry, quiet and calm. Since she is the only one left, consider bringing her into the house and place her in a dog crate to keep an eye on her. You will need to administer to the wound a couple times a day. I am no expert, this is just what I recall reading from other posts here from attacks. Hopefully, others with more experience will be along soon to help. Best of luck. I'm sorry this happened to you. Hope your girl pulls through.
