Hawk attack......Time for a new coop..Done new pics

I started with 16 2x4 4 foot long and 4 2x4 8 foot long. That gave me the basic frame. There are 2 2x4 4 feet long under the plywood floor for support. The platform is 2 feet from the ground. I will get the measurements on the rafters and get them posted. Keep in mind the materials I used were all recycled. The boards were from old pallets that I got from a hot tub place and some more pallets from Sears. So far I have $17.00 invested. Two 4x8 sheets of OSB and 1 gallon of oops paint from Sherwin Williams.

i see this comment the most when it comes to building "large" tractors.

My advise is keep your material to min. You used full 2x4 construction which is beafy, but also very heavy. 2x3 rafters would be plenty, 2x2 side members that do little more than give you a place to attach wire... 2x2 roosts are plenty to support the weight of a few birds....

the upside is you can save on material also, not just weight.

1/2 i would think is 2 light weight, but some 3/4 sch 40 or 1" should have enough beef to hold up to being moved around.

the biggest issue is attaching stuff to it. although with a little planning you could drill some holes in the pvc and attac some 1x2 to the side to give you a spot to staple wire to. Id still use 2x2 or 2x3 for roof rafters.

finding the right fitting for a 90-90 elbow can be hard also (to form a 3D corner)

I agree that using lighter materials would have made it easier to move but I used what I had. It was all free. I think with a planning I can still make it mobile. I need to figure a leverage system to pick the back end up to slide my little axle under. The front isn't a problem. I am thinking of setting it up a very low frame with 4 wheels, the front would swivel to make turning easier. Kind of like alot of hay trailers I see around here. I could easily move it with my riding mower or tractor.

I got everyone moved in today. I need to paint a few pieces but I am done for today. Total measurements are 4x8 feet with a 4x4 foot house 2 feet off the ground. I have $20.00 invested in all.
