I've lost two silkies due to a hawk, yesterday I came home and the hawk was in the fence dead. My big Orpington rooster apparently killed it but he is wounded on his left wing. The wound is very bare and tore up but he seems to be moving around just fine, what is a good medicine or treatment for the wounds? Thanks

First you want to clean and flush the wound and remove any and all debris. You can do this by running cold water over the wound to wash it. If need be you can mix a solution of hydrogen peroxide 50/50 with water, then use a needless syringe to flush the solution into the wound. The H2o2 will bubble up and bring debris to the surface to be rinsed out. Only use the H2o2 solution once. Any other cleanings should be done with cool water only.

Then apply Vetericyn wound and skin care spray. If it is severe you may need to apply some Neosporin as well. Also, Blue-Kote wound dressing may be applied to prevent the other chickens from pecking at the open wound.

Sorry about your losses and hope he has a speedy recovery.
