Hawk - carery off a grown chichken?

I've lost two chickens to hawks - granted they were the ditzy Polish, which are lighter weight, too. There are other winged predators such as owls and eagles. My chickens (and my small dog) are only allowed out under my watchful eye. I have two outside pens, one has hawk netting over it, the other is criss-crossed with strings and I hang DVDs. They sparkle and keep the avian predators from going in the pen. You can see my set-ups at www.HenCam.com. BTW, the DVD trick over a pop-door is fairly effective keeping the sparrows out of the coop.
