Holy smokes RR, glad you were there. I came here this evening looking for hawk posts because I had 4- yes FOUR of them in my yard about an hour ago. I heard some gawd-awful screaming so I ran outside and it was all four hawks screaming back and forth to each other. They kept flying from tree to tree , the girls and roo were so freaked out, all hiding in various places. We always see hawks here but I have never seen anything like this . I got scratch and swooshed everyone in their coop, locked up early tonight.
I thought maybe it was a territorial fight between two mating pairs, but one of those hawks flew within 20 ft of the coop and me. As soon as everyone was locked up, they were gone.
I do have chicks outside now, but they are in an enclosed hutch, extremely secure, but maybe the chick sounds attracted them.... I just dunno, but I don't want a repeat.
