Hawks after my chickens, what do I do.

The roof of a large covered run is the best hawk repellent.

If you free range you are likely to sooner or later loose a bird. I have had a hawk twice come down and take a bird. Sometimes during hatching season I use melon boxes as brooders. One day while standing next to a box a hawk swooped down and grabbed one of the chicks. One day I was out in my blueberry patch picking blueberries and a hawk came down and killed a adult bird that was in the patch with me. It happened fast but it didn't carry her off probably because I went hysterical but it did kill her.
