I've read that stringing heavy duty fishing line across the top of your run will detour hawks and other birds of prey. I've done it to mine but my chicks are still inside so not sure how well this will work! if anyone else has done this a response is appreciated!

A coopers hawk would still come in, it could work on larger hawks if the line is close enough but they could also get caught in it leaving you with a hawk to deal with, i know my guineas got caught a few times in the lines i put up.

I put light duty electric fence wire as a grid of 1' squares across the top of my large runs. It's right next to our woods and it has worked great. I'm not sure how long fishing line would last in the sun. The wire is cheap and it will last for years. Also if you put up martin houses - they will chase hawks away. Fun watching a big hawk get dive bombed by a bunch of martins.
