We have two 5-6 month old and several 2 week old silkies. They do seem very docile and friendly after you get them in your hand/lap. The thing that is somewhat weird is that they have blue colored skin and ears. The other oddball piece that takes some getting used to is that they have 5 toes, which is somewhat disturbing when you are used to other numbers of toes. Something that we found out was that the brain area is not totally enclosed and they can have head trauma if something hits them in the right spot.
You may want to get one or two that are somewhat aged as it is difficult to sex them. Seems like someone is always looking for them so if you get two girls then rehoming one or a roo would be somewhat easy. The roos are very loud and seem to crow a lot.
The evil thing is just that people really like them after getting them and then start dedicating too much to their care. They go from having one or two to having a whole hen house setup for them.
