Just kidding, he was at an outreach I did with the zoo today. A ball python, one of my favorite snakes.

not funny...

you know stupid people here in fla. think it is so cool to get these as pets off of craigs list, then when they get to hard to handle they let them go out into the wild...like down the street at the local lake and they end up eating every living thing they can find.
I just cringe cause I see them on there almost everyday????????????????????whats with that?????????????I guess they aren't illegal here.
b.t.w...hubby just killed a huge water mocasin in my moms little koi pond the other day, now he was a wild animal in his natural envirement just trying to survive.

That's how our zoo ended up with Notchaway, our Burmese python. Someone had him as a pet, then released him in the middle of winter on a plantation. It the kind hearted hunter hadn't found him...He isn't the one pictured, by the way. Notchaway is now 12 feet long. I wish people took more responsibility before choosing a pet. But then again, pet stores and such shouldn't be selling snakes like that as pets to the regular joe schmoo off the street, either.

Do you not know that Florida has people who you can call to catch any and all reptiles? you don't HAVE to see them everyday......

And water mocasin's are native and only relocated... pythons are removed because they are invasive.
