One of my favorite hens, only about 9 months old, I discovered she got some bad head injuries. The top of her head is mangled, bleeding a little. One eye swollen and one eye gone. I separated her from the rest. Sadly, she can't seem to find food or water. I put another young hen in with her that she was raised with that seems to help her find the food and water.
What could have caused this? Would the other hens peck her that badly? Finally what is a good medicine I can put on her? I am starting to wonder if she got her head caught on something. She'll be staying out of general population for awhile, maybe permanently. It's sad that the one with the most personality always seem more accident prone. I hope she pulls through. She's young and strong, but I noticed a bad smell that I hope is not her wounds.
