Heart failure

I suspect I had a hen with it. She had a bloated abdomen, labored breathing, and her comb would turn purple. She stayed alive for awhile, and somehow the bloating would go down (I was giving Amoxicillin to see what it would do, so maybe that helped), but then she would get more bloating. It seemed no matter how bloated she was she still had labored breathing.
So sorry about your girl, unfortunately there's no cure. :( :hugs

Crataegus and nettles (urtica) can help to keep her more comfortable as can draining the accumulated fluid in case she has a hard time breathing due to ascites.
Don't overdo the treats and avoid heat or any other kind of stress like adding new birds to the flock.

Has anyone had experience with a hen having congestive heart failure?
One of my hens died from a heart problem. She was always very light weight ,tired , sleeping, never laid and finally died. I

I didn't know she was that sick till I found her weak in the coop. I did do a necropsy on her and found rocks in heart. It was also very out of shape and small.

So sorry for you and your hen! Its always hard!

She was just diagnosed yesterday, not expected to live long
I'm sorry that your hen is not well.
Was she diagnosed by a Vet, did they find the condition through imaging?
Did the Vet make any suggestions or provide medications to help give her some relief?

If not, then trying what is suggested in Post#7 may help her a little.

I'm sorry you lost your hen, do you have photos of the rocks in her heart?
